Things You Should Know About Using Portable Toilets For Your Event

Portable toilets can offer a solution when you are hosting a large event and need to provide restrooms for the people that will be attending. Some guidelines can help make it easier for you to select the toilets you need and place them appropriately.

Determining The Quantity

One of the most challenging things to do is determine how many portable toilets you will need for an event you are hosting. The most common method used to select unit quantities is to look at the expected attendance, and place toilets in groups that can provide service to people while maintaining short waiting lines.

Many portable toilet companies recommend one toilet per every fifty people attending the event. However, if there is alcohol being served, that number should increase to two units per fifty people. An event planner will often double that again so that people do not have to wait to use the restroom more than a couple of minutes, and an experienced planner may have historical data for an annual event that helps determine that number more easily.

Locations For Portable Toilets

Where you put the portable toilets for your event can be critical. People will not want to walk a long way to use the restroom, so if you can find spots around the event that are out of the flow of traffic but close enough for people to get to quickly, you will be better off. Sometimes portable toilets can have an odor to them, so it is also essential that you account for that and do not put any units near food vending areas.

The health department in your area may also have guidelines that you need to follow for the placement of portable toilets, so check with them before putting any in place. The rental company supplying the toilets can move them for you if needed, but often that comes with an additional fee, so it is better to get them in the right area the first time.

Planning Your Rental

It is crucial to consider the time frame you will need portable toilets on-site and let the rental company know so they can get the units ready and arrange delivery and set up for you. Most rental companies will require two to three days' notice for small rentals, and several weeks for large rentals, to allow time to ensure they have the number of units you need on the day of your event.

If you wait until the last minute to call the rental company, they may have some portable toilets available, but they will still need to clean them, set them up on-site, and make sure they are stocked with supplies. The more notice you give the rental company, the more likely they can fill your order to your satisfaction.
